It was around midnight on a quiet night and she was reading a book in the den when her phone rang. She answered and it was a terrible connection; one full of static and popping. A voice began to speak, and it was her boyfriend. “I just want you to know that I love you” he said and then the call disconnected. She found that odd, so she tried to call him back, but a mechanical voice said “the call could not be completed at this time.”
It was a little later when she received another call, this time from the county sheriff's office notifying her that her boyfriend had been killed in an automobile accident at 8 o’clock that evening when his car went off the road and into a tree. “Are you sure it was around 8 p.m. when it happened?” she asked in disbelief. The person on the other end verified that it was.
She hung up in tears and wondered how she could have gotten a call from him at midnight when he had died four hours earlier? How could that be possible?
How could it indeed? There is no rational explanation.
