You’ve heard of ghost ships undoubtedly, and ghost planes, but there have also been reports of ghost trains...when President Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth in 1865, a funeral train ran from the nation’s capital to Springfield, Illinois where the President was interred...well, one example of this phenomena is a phantom funeral train that is said to run regularly...from Washington, D.C. to Springfield, Illinois, right around the time of the anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's death in April...people have reported that their watches mysteriously stopped working... and clocks in surrounding areas came to a standstill as the train passed...and perhaps this shouldn’t be so surprising...Abraham Lincoln was said to have been surrounded by strange occurrences during his presidency and touched by paranormal experiences...his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln was a believer in spiritualism herself, and held séances as she tried to contact her dead son Willie through a medium...the President himself is said to have had a dream about his impending death...after the assassination occurred, the train left Washington D.C. on the 21st of April and arrived in Springfield, Illinois on May 3rd...along the way, it traveled through seven states...many in the following years have reported seeing the ghost train itself...traveling through the countryside with the President’s casket aboard... the wind comes up suddenly and then the train passes by quietly on its eerie journey.
