What is the difference between deists and theists, and for that matter atheists and agnostics?...invite all four types to a dinner and you’re likely to have a very lively and possibly heated conversation that evening and it probably will have nothing to do with the food...the deist believes in a creator god, but in one that doesn’t make judgements, require worship, or intervene...a.k.a. he doesn’t answer prayers...there is no promise of life after death...the theist believes in a creator god...a god that makes judgements, may require worship, sees some as sinners, and does answer prayers (the answer may be no)...atheists believe that there is no god whatsoever and agnostics say that there is no possible way to tell for sure...there may be and there may not be...when you throw in the thousands of other ‘religious beliefs’, you have quite a hodgepodge of philosophies and religions...believers are gonna believe relying on faith...non-believers are not going to believe based on proof (or lack of it actually)...of course it’s all a little more complex than that as I’m sure all groups would point out and I’m not going to go into any more depth on it, but that should give you the ground rules just in case the four come over for dinner at your house.
