Materialization often occurs during
a séance for example, when an object or even a human shape will manifest during
the proceedings…sometimes it’s a tambourine…or a trumpet…it may even be an
image of someone that the partakers of the séance know…there isn’t any concrete
evidence that any of this has actually occurred…in fact, when talking about
materialization, one invariably recalls all the fraudulent activity that some charlatans
have tried to pull on unsuspecting audiences…here are a couple of
examples…there was a British materialization medium named Rosina Mary Showers
and she was caught in many fraudulent séances throughout her career…one time
during a séance, the headdress of the supposed conjured up spirit fell off and the
‘spirit’ was none other than Showers herself… The
poet Robert Browning and his wife Elizabeth attended a séance once… during the
séance a spirit face materialized which the medium claimed was the son of
Browning who had tragically died in infancy...Browning grabbed the
"materialization" and discovered it to be the bare foot of the
medium...to make the attempted deception even worse, Browning had never lost a
son in infancy…there have been many more cases of deception and trickery…yet,
some people have fallen prey to these seemingly ridiculous events during
séances and believe them to be real.
