Companion Pieces and Spirits

As an artist, sometimes I hear "Oh, that painting looks like that painting", inferring a lack of originality in the design. However I call them companion pieces. It is as though one painting has given birth to another...they are kindred spirits in a sense. They share a common bond which sometimes goes beyond what can be explained to the non-artistic soul. It occurs in people as well...two individuals or more will have a sense of togetherness that goes beyond what can be spoken. It cannot be explained or understood by some, but that connection between these people is real...those involved know.
