Here’s a story I heard
in the movie ‘Nicholas and Alexandra’…There’s the tale of a woman who was
afraid of strangers…so much so that she never left the house and bought a
pinewood box to live in…one day her husband nailed the box shut, dug a hole in
the ground, and threw the box in with his wife in it…he heard a tapping on the
lid and opened it…it was his wife…she said “Heaven is full of strangers, I
don’t want to go there. Let me out!”...or as in one John Wayne movie called
‘Red River’, Wayne’s friend Nadine Groot said upon seeing some strangers
approaching:” Never liked seeing strangers. Maybe it's because no stranger ever
good newsed me.”
