A knockdown is when a
sailboat is pushed abruptly to horizontal, with the mast parallel to the water
surface; it is not a pleasant occurrence. But they say it’s not how many times
you get knocked down, it’s how many times you get back up. The determined man
with a dream in his heart and with determination in his bones will get up many
times. Sometimes it pays off, and sometimes it’s in vain but one has to try.
There are no guarantees, but even then it’s better than just lying on the
ground or parallel with the waves and giving up too easily.
