A telescope gives us the
idea that we are closer to something although in reality we are not. You can’t
taste the saltwater of the sea looking through a telescope from land. We think
we see better but sometimes it is better not to look so close. From a distance,
a city can look beautiful, but if we get too close we can see its dirty streets
and alleys, it boarded up houses, and broken glass littering the street.
Sometimes it is better to keep a distance and to maintain the illusion that we
have in our hearts for that may be a far prettier picture than the one that
reality paints.
