In the back of the
classroom where the real people sit, ideas are challenged, new ways are
invented, and all without the help of the intelligentsia or the snobbishness
that it often breeds. The best hours spent in a school have nothing to with any
common core subjects or any words from teachers who count the minutes until
they can leave. Bonds are formed, lives change, and bridges are crossed
together. Lao-Tzu is said to have been a scholar but obviously he took a break
from the Chinese classics to observe the world around him. If you have your
head in a book all the time, you don’t have your head in the Dao.
