The winter’s a long time going when you’re up this high in the
mountains. The snow is deep, the wind cuts through you like a samurai’s sword. It
wears you down. You live moment to moment because for all you know, that’s all
you got left…moments. You never know when a grizzly bear or an avalanche might
come for you. You rely on your wits and you survive as long as your wits don’t
get dull, they must stay sharp up here. Winter however will release its icy
grip eventually. There comes a time when spring finally arrives. The snow melts
and it reveals green life underneath.
