If we do not contend, we
can neither be victorious or defeated. It is said that the squeaky wheel gets
the grease, but it also been said that the nail that sticks up gets hammered
down. We can never be sure of the consequences of our actions. Predictability
is unpredictable. If we are one with the Dao, being victorious holds no gold for us
for we will have no use for gold. Men steal it, kill for it, die for it, but it
is all unnecessary when you understand what makes the world go around.
