In the spirit of the
Dao, we should try to remain as flexible as we can. There is a season, turn,
turn, turn as the old song goes. There is a time to be born and a time to die.
It is also true that there are times for firmness. Just as the Dao always finds
balance and the right amount of this or that, we too have to have the right
tool for the job; no matter what job we undertake in the daily course of our
lives. Knowing when to apply what demonstrates great wisdom. A wise golfer
doesn’t wind up and hit his driver when he is 50 yards from the hole. It takes
a different club, a different swing and touch to get the ball close to the
hole. We have a lot of clubs in our bag, but we often prefer to use only a few
and under-utilize ones that give us a greater chance of success.
