Three men gather after
work for a few drinks at the local tavern. They talk about the daily events.
One man is as bitter as his beer as he talks about being passed over for a
promotion. Another says he has to get going soon so he can make his night class
at the college as he works toward his degree. He hopes to stay awake in class
tonight as he often falls asleep from having to get up so early. The third man
is merely passing time at his job and has given up any thoughts of happiness or
satisfaction in his work. They decide to order another round of the hope that
comes in the bottom of a glass. The American dream indeed.
