Every day I am reminded
of my inevitable divorce from my youth. So much sand has slipped through the
hourglass and we never know how much we have left. I know for sure that I am
closer to the end of the game than the opening kickoff to use a football
reference. But still, there is much to do, much to accomplish, and much to
dream about. Maybe next year will be the start of that next great American
novel, or that long dreamed of vacation; although I can’t agree with that old
saying by Robert Browning that the best is yet to be. We would only be being
honest to admit that much of our best is in the rear view mirror, but the drive
forward can still be worthwhile.
