Death is the one
appointment we are all destined to keep and we can never be sure what time the
appointment is. We always think we have time, but we can’t see the clock by
which our life is measured. We can’t see the sand slowly slipping through the
hourglass. It can come suddenly without warning, or it may be a gradual process
where you see yourself slipping away. I don’t know which one would be
preferable. I would think each would have its advantages. If you embrace the
teachings of the Dao, you will not be afraid of death, knowing that life is the
mother of death.
