We age, we get old. Some
societies value old age and pay reverence to the aged. Others look down upon it
and criticize. To those who criticize, your time is coming. As we do age we
realize we can no longer do some of the things we used to do. Those things that
came natural to us now seem unnatural. Our vision may fade, our reflexes slow
down, our bodies begin to break down. It is natural for a man to slow his pace
as he ages. People have fought against the ravages of time for thousands of
years, yet no one has won. We can only put on an illusion that we remain young.
Yet, old age not need be a curse either. There are many advantages. Through
experience, one hopefully becomes wiser; one becomes more secure in themselves
and doesn’t look to others for acceptance. One understands the great journey.
