We are all
Robert-Houdin’s of some kind. Robert-Houdin was a great French magician back in
the day. What’s that you say? You don’t know any magic tricks? Of course you
do. How about the one where you intentionally keep your desk at work messy with
sticky notes and papers all over to fool the boss that you are actually
accomplishing anything? We all perform some kind of deception. Robert-Houdin
said that a magician is merely an actor and there’s no denying that we are
definitely actors. We go along merrily acting all the time; sometimes being on
our best behavior in front of others, pretending to actually be interested in
the latest 3rd quarter profit numbers of the conglomerate we work
for when we are secretly devising our fantasy football team; sadly pretending
to care about those who we no longer have any feelings for. Indeed, our acting
goes on all day and night, a far longer show that any of the great magicians
ever performed.
