If you are foolish enough to fight the Dao, you will
surely lose. There’s just no defeating it, no running out the clock, no falling
on the ball. You can’t defeat the way, you can’t cheat death, you can’t escape
time passing. There are no lucky victories. You might think you’re ahead, but it
will turn out that you’re so far behind, you just think you’re ahead. You’re
doomed to fail so it’s better to make a friend out of the Dao instead. Learn to
live with it, it’s not like you have a choice.
