You see a lot of people performing rituals, lighting
candles, going to church, praying, meditating, among other things. What do all
these rituals tell you about the people who perform them? The wise answer is
nothing. A trained monkey can perform repetitive tasks. Yet, no one confuses a
trained monkey for a spiritual being. Still, people perform them with the idea
that they are actually doing something. Rituals are just the outer cloak. It is
what is inside the cloak that distinguishes the real from the fake, the true
seekers from the charlatans, the enlightened from the merely well-trained.
