Did you know that in the
early 1900's, many New York City moviemakers took the train south and came to
Jacksonville, Florida to take advantage of a warm climate and beautiful scenery
which made the city for a small time at least, "The Winter Film Capital of
the World". There were over 30 movie studios and thousands of silent films
produced between 1908 and the 1920s, when most studios chose to relocate to
Hollywood. The talkies were a boon to many actors and a career ender for
others. Change is always around the corner; be prepared.
