Last evening, I was
watching the 1970 Open Championship on YouTube. It was fun to watch the great
golfers of yesteryear in their prime. What also struck me was how different the
world was then. People were different then too. Things today that we take for
granted that were unheard of and even unimaginable back then; a world that had
not been besmirched by the attitude of almost anything goes. I thought of all
the people who were around then that are no longer with us; family and friends
and others too. After watching it, I felt somewhat melancholic about the whole
thing. Of course, we always think life was simpler then, but of course it
wasn’t. Everyone still had problems like we do today, just different problems. Yet,
it was the nostalgic idea of a more innocent time that seemed so appealing.
