An
old broom has its value. Yes, that old broom that may be in the corner hidden
by shadows, worn down, the bristles no longer straight, the handle chipped or
splintering. Yet it can still be quite useful. What it has lost in sweeping
ability, it has gained with new adaptations; to prop a door open, or some other
new use if we are open minded enough. Too often in our society, old brooms are
discarded once they are no longer pretty and clean and straight. Yet these old
brooms can offer much, a wealth of experience, a kind word, a time of shelter
in a storm. An old broom still has much wisdom to share and work it can do if
we only give it a chance.
