Do Not Let Work Define You
"I do
not suppose I shall be remembered for anything. But I don’t think about my work
in those terms. It is just as vulgar to work for the sake of posterity as to
work for the sake of money." This was said by the great director and actor Orson
Welles. Clawing your way to the top of the company ladder will have little if
any importance one day sooner than you think. Working desperately for the sake
of the purchase of silly material things is a life wasted. Work is necessary
and in some cases can be rewarding, but it should never be how we define
ourselves or attempt to carve out some kind of legacy for people to admire. Do not attempt to let your work define you as many who have been considered successful in their work, have been quite unsuccessful as human beings.
