From
the middle of a lake, the shore may not seem to be far away. However, when we
begin swimming toward it, we realize it is far. The Dao is easy to embrace, yet
society is the riptide that takes us further out and tries to drown us. The
best way to free one’s self from being caught in a riptide is to swim parallel
to the shore, not straight at if in a confrontational matter. Likewise, do not
fight the riptide of society. Instead, follow your own course and set yourself
free.
