A student was having difficulty following the temple schedule. Master Li
said to him, “Your bucket has a hole in it.” The student looked around and
said, “I do not have a bucket Master.” Master Li responded, “Well then, you
most certainly need a bucket.” The student said, “But Master, I do not need a
bucket.” Master Li shook his head and responded, “In that case, things are
worse than I thought.”
