If you seek to be too tall and walk around on tiptoes, you will not stand steady. If you seek to display yourself, you will not be clearly seen if seen at all. You will be a mirage, a purveyor of smoke and mirrors. Smoke dissipates and mirrors can be cracked or broken. Go around justifying yourself and your views will not be respected by those for whom you seek approval. Sharpen your sword too much and it will snap. The wise man knows moderation and perhaps more importantly, how to be quiet and stay in the shadows.
