Choose your companions wisely. It is far better to walk alone than to accept the company of fools, for fools after all, do not know the Way and they will lead you astray down dark alleys and through dubious streets. Even if for a lifetime a fool stays with the wise but does not travel the path of Tao, he knows nothing of the Tao, as the spoon does not know the taste of the delicious soup that it stirs or holds. We must get over this notion that we are a social animal that must have company, even if that company is bankrupt of virtue or morals. One may walk alone, but is not truly alone as they have the Tao as their faithful companion, guiding them away from the neighborhoods where one should not tread.
