The present is rooted in the past. We are where we are now because of the steps we have taken before. The past cannot be changed but the future can be shaped by our actions today. Yet, do not seek to blame the past or use it as a crutch to fall back upon. Each new day is a chance for a new beginning or an ending of something we no longer desire. Remember that the future is sown from the seeds you plant now.
The deeper into the earth the roots reach, the stronger the tree. The deeper our belief and the firmer our commitment to the wisdom of the Tao, the stronger we shall be. We will not be toppled over by the high winds that are sure to come. Seek unity with the Tao and you will endure through the coldest winds or the hottest of days.
