It is wise to remember that we must be diligent in our practice and not become discouraged. If while sailing his sturdy ship a captain runs into rough waters, does the captain lose faith in his vessel and turn around for port thus scuttling his voyage? There will be times of doubt, times of confusion, times when we must navigate our own personal rough waters, but if we truly are one with Tao, we will overcome these times by knowing; knowing that the Tao is the compass that will see us through. Giving up in the face of these things would only show a lack of understanding.
