The astral plane, also called the astral world, is plane of existence that has been suggested by classical, oriental and esoteric philosophies and some religions. It is world of planetary spheres, that is said to be crossed by soul in its astral body on way to being born or after death, generally said to be populated by angels, spirits or other immaterial beings.
The astral spheres are thought to be planes of angelic existence existing between heaven and earth. According to occult teachings the astral plane can be visited consciously through astral projection, meditation and mantra, near death experience, lucid dreaming, or other means. Individuals that are trained in the use of the astral vehicle can separate their consciousness in the astral vehicle from the physical body at will.
As believers in Tao, we know that one journey ends and another begins. Perhaps an astral plane is a place that is part of the separation of journeys. Or perhaps there is no such place other than in the minds of people who are free to create their own beliefs; some right, some not. It is all part of the great mystery.
