Ancient Taoists did not try to make religion or science of Tao ways. Were simply content to live in harmony with universe. Did not probe for deep exotic, mystical meanings or create man made religion. The sun came up, went down, the seasons changed, the rain fell.
Curiosity often reason cat needs nine lives. There are things we know, and things we do not know, things we really do not need to know, and things we can not know. The mind like teacup can only hold so much anyway. Why worry about filling it with one thing when another would be more useful?
